What is the Best AI ChatBot for Your Business?
By Nicolas Martin, Senior Full Stack Data Scientist, Fractal-Apps CEO & Founder, 08/01/2024.
Seven important free chatbots are useful for many business tasks, but we don't know which one is better. In this article, we will compare all popular chatbots, from ChatGPT to Gemini, and see which one excels in different fields from a business perspective through practical use-cases.
Overview
We tested several ChatBots across multiple aspects, as shown in the image below.
Here are the links to access them with the required signup:
X'Grok (X account)
Meta.ai's Llama (meta account like facebook)
Claude 3.5 (email + phone number)
ChatGPT (Gmail)
Edge's Co-Pilot (Microsoft email)
Perplexity (Gmail)
Gemini (Gmail)
We conducted various tests and will present the most relevant examples to showcase their capabilities. We stuck to the free versions of each ChatBot so you can try them out yourself without any cost. On the podium, Grok, Llama, and ChatGPT stand out as the overall leaders.
They can all handle complex questions, accurately analyze images and documents, and translate any text. It's worth noting that ChatGPT's mobile version includes voice chat, which is super handy for discussing any topic on the go or learning subjects interactively - it's like having a personal tutor in your pocket.
- ChatBot Prompting: Claude, followed by Meta
All AI chatbots can help you solve a wide range of problems, but one of the most effective approaches is to use a framework.
A framework helps you structure your request and maximize the AI's potential, even in complex situations.
In this example, we'll look at a case study of a Sales Director at a home staging company who wants to convince her CEO to use a home staging service www.airoomstyles.com (which is our flagship project).
Let's look at the prompt:
Objective: Write a convincing email of 150-200 words to explain why we should collaborate with AI Room Styles, a home design service with AI to generate virtual staging renders for our customers.
About me: Laura Smith, sales director of a home staging business in Chicago of 300 employees "My Cozy Home".
About the recipient: Peter Garcia, CEO of "My Cozy Home".
Message style: Friendly, professional and direct. The recipient is a very optimistic person.
Recent event: We were at a Home Design Forum a few days ago with Samantha, the Marketing director.
This framework was specifically designed to adapt messages to different contexts and make them more persuasive. It can be applied across various scenarios with different goals in mind.
Here are the results achieved by the six tools.
All chatbots handled the task adequately but showed notable differences:
Gemini: Provided accurate responses but made unsupported assumptions, like interpreting the request as a reminder when this wasn't explicitly stated in the framework. The "My Take Aways" section was helpful in understanding its decision-making process.
ChatGPT: Performed slightly better than Gemini, with some interpretation but more justified. It effectively connected the response to a shared event, adding credibility by showing continued professional engagement post-event.
Meta: Delivered a solid response with some creative interpretation, particularly when introducing Samantha as a collaborator. This actually worked well, as getting buy-in from multiple team members often increases project approval chances. Meta's approach emphasized teamwork and used bullet points effectively to structure arguments clearly.
Perplexity Pro: Technically excellent response but missed the mark on matching the user's optimistic tone. An effective response should adapt its tone to the user while presenting relevant information.
Grok: Provided the most balanced response, using all framework information without taking risks. However, it lost some credibility by mentioning specific company details (like the 300-person team size) that a human might have omitted.
Claude: Outperformed others by smartly utilizing all guidelines. It matched the user's optimistic tone perfectly, making the message particularly convincing. No unnecessary assumptions were made, and everything flowed naturally, feeling very human-like.
Bottom line: Claude leads the pack for standalone Q&A, with Meta close behind thanks to its solid argumentation. Claude's main limitation is its inability to process URLs or generate images.
2. Image Generation: Grok, followed by Meta
Image generation is a game-changer for businesses because it empowers anyone to:
Bring ideas to life visually
Communicate complex concepts simply
Enhance engagement and understanding
Save time and resources
Unlock creativity
Here is the prompt we use, feel free to adapt it to your company:
Generate a picture of a very realistic meeting with 3 persons in a modern office with words "MY COMPANY" on a big screen, professional, happiness, confidence, diversity, highly detailed.
Here are the results delivered by the four Chatbots:
We tested the image generation capabilities of four leading chatbots. Here are the results:
Gemini: The free version lacks image generation with people, a missed opportunity. However, its rendering is sleek and professional.
ChatGPT/CoPilot: Similar results, with CoPilot delivering slightly better outputs. CoPilot's editing features shine, allowing format adjustments (16:9, 4:3, etc.).
Meta: Meta impresses again, outperforming Gemini and ChatGPT. While limited to 1:1 format and lacking editing tools, its realistic images can be animated.
Grok: Stands out with exceptional image quality, respecting all specifications. The 4:3 format adapts well to 16:9 cropping, and Flux 1.1 engine ensures stunning realism.
Grok takes the crown, but Meta's animation feature is a bonus.
